The short answer

What goes into a bathroom renovation in Farragut?

A bathroom renovation in Farragut means taking out what is worn and rebuilding the room in a set order: demolition, a look at the walls and subfloor, shower or tub work, tile, vanity and top, fixtures, lighting, trim and cleanup. Some homes need the whole room redone. Others need one shower rebuilt, or a tired floor painted and stenciled instead of torn out. Curtis Can Do LLC does the work hands-on, so the person who walks the room with you is the person holding the tools. We check the subfloor for soft spots and the walls for hidden damage once the old surround is out. At the walkthrough we measure, talk through layout and materials, and confirm scope, schedule and price in plain terms before anything is removed. The work on this page, from large-format marble-look tile to glass subway and mosaic shower pans, comes from our own jobs.

  • Layout, tile, vanity and fixtures chosen together before demo starts
  • Floors and the rest of the house protected while the room is open
  • One person on site from the first measurement to the final walkthrough

Bathroom anatomy

Every part of the bathroom we work on

A bathroom is six jobs in one small room. Here is what each part can include, so you can see where your project falls.

  • Tub surrounds in subway, glass subway or vertical-stack tile
  • Glass enclosure or curtain, matched to the room

Choosing the scope

Full remodel, shower or tub rebuild, or a refresh?

Not every bathroom needs to be gutted. Compare the three common scopes, then we confirm the right one at the walkthrough.

How it works

From first walkthrough to final cleanup

Five steps, in the order they happen. We handle each one ourselves.

  1. Walkthrough and measure

We look at the room, measure it, and checks the existing tile, subfloor and fixtures. You talk through what bothers you, what you want to keep, and how you use the bathroom day to day.

  2. Choose layout and materials

We settle the layout, tile and size, shower or tub type, vanity, top and fixture finish. Scope, schedule and price are confirmed in plain terms before any work starts.

  3. Demo and protect the house

Floors and the path through the house are covered. The old vanity, fixtures and tile come out, and we check the walls and subfloor so problems are found now, not after new tile is up.

  4. Rough work, then tile

Any repairs and prep come first, then the shower or tub area, niche and pan, then wall and floor tile. Grout and caulk go in after the tile has set.

  5. Fixtures, trim, cleanup and final walkthrough

Vanity, top, faucets, toilet, lighting, hardware and trim go in. We clean up, then walk the finished room with you and fix anything that is not right.

What to expect at home during the work

  • Floors and the route from the door to the bathroom are covered before demo starts.
  • Expect noise and some dust on demo days. We contain the work area and clean up as we go.
  • Water to the bathroom may be off at times. We tell you ahead of those moments.
  • Plan for the bathroom, and sometimes the nearest sink, to be unavailable while it is open. Ask about a second bathroom in the house.
  • Keep pets and small children away from the work area and the tools.
  • Decide on tile, fixtures and finishes before demo, so work does not stall waiting on a choice.
  • Tell us where to park and where materials can be staged.
What affects the price

What moves the cost of a bathroom project

We do not quote numbers from a phone call. These are the things that change the price, and we confirm them at the walkthrough.

  • Size of the room. A larger floor and taller walls mean more tile, more cuts and more time.
  • Scope of the work. A full remodel, a shower or tub rebuild and a refresh are very different jobs.
  • Layout changes. Keeping fixtures where they are costs less effort than moving a shower, tub or vanity.
  • Tile choice and pattern. Large-format panels, small mosaics, vertical-stack layouts and patterns all set cutting and install time differently.
  • Shower and tub type. A mosaic pan, a glass enclosure or a freestanding tub each adds its own steps.
  • Vanity, top and fixtures. Stock or upgraded vanities, marble tops and finishes like matte black change material cost.
  • What is behind the walls and floor. Soft subfloor, old surrounds or hidden damage can add repair work. We look as the room opens.
  • Access and finish level. How materials reach the room and how much detail you want in trim and accents affects hours on site.

Bathrooms in Farragut, Knoxville, Oak Ridge and Maryville

Curtis Can Do LLC is based in Farragut and serves four Tennessee towns.

  • Farragut
  • Knoxville
  • Oak Ridge
  • Maryville

In older Farragut and West Knoxville subdivisions, many bathrooms are still the original builder-grade rooms: a tub and shower combination, a stock vanity, basic tile and a single light. Those rooms often suit a full remodel or a shower rebuild, and a tired floor can sometimes be refreshed on its own. We look at each house before recommending a scope.

Questions

Bathroom renovation questions, answered

What affects the cost of a bathroom renovation in Farragut?

Scope, room size, layout changes, tile and fixture choices, and what we find behind the walls and under the floor all affect cost. A refresh costs far less effort than a full remodel. We do not guess over the phone. We measure at the walkthrough, then confirms scope and price in plain terms before work starts.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the scope. A paint and stencil refresh moves faster than a full remodel with new tile. Timing is also shaped by tile drying and curing, how much repair is found after demo, material availability and how many decisions are still open. We confirm a schedule at the walkthrough once the scope is clear.

Can we use the bathroom during the work?

Plan on that bathroom being out of service while it is open. A refresh may leave the room usable between steps, but a shower or tub rebuild or full remodel usually does not. If your home has a second bathroom, tell us at the walkthrough and we will plan the work around how your household uses the house.

Can worn tile be refreshed without replacing it?

Yes, when the tile is sound. We have primed and painted old gray bathroom floor tile white and added stenciled patterns, as shown in the photos above. It suits a budget update. We check the tile condition first, because cracked, loose or water-damaged tile should be replaced instead of painted.

Can you convert a tub to a shower, or a shower to a tub?

Yes. Tub to walk-in shower is a common change, usually with a tiled mosaic pan and a glass enclosure or curtain, while some homeowners want a tub where a shower stood. We look at the plumbing, floor and wall conditions at the walkthrough, then confirm what the conversion involves and what it changes in the room.

How do I choose between tile styles and materials?

Start with how you use the room and how much cleaning you want to do. Large-format tile has fewer grout lines, glass subway is bright and reflective, vertical-stack adds height, and mosaic suits shower floors. We show what we have installed, then help you match tile, fixtures and finish to your budget.

What areas do you serve for bathroom renovation?

Curtis Can Do LLC is based in Farragut, Tennessee, and serves Farragut, Knoxville, Oak Ridge and Maryville. If you are nearby but not in one of those towns, ask. The simplest way to find out is to send the address area and a short description of the bathroom, and we will tell you whether we can take it on.

How do I get started on my bathroom?

Use the Get a Quote button or call during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Tell us which bathroom, what you want changed and any photos of the room as it is. We will set up a walkthrough to measure, discuss materials and confirm scope, schedule and price.
